The joys of firework night

Well, another November 5th has come and...almost...gone.

A night to tempt all the senses... the sight of the pretty patterns, the smell of the bonfire and sparklers, the burning sensation as a spark from sparkler singes your hand, the sounds of the rockets, the taste of the badly burnt sausages from the barbecue...what a treat!

Not long 'til Christmas now...then New Year... then it'll be almost time for bonfire night again!

Can't wait!

Not replying to text messages...

I don't want this blog to turn into a place that's just for me to complain about things, but I want to get this off my chest.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A MOBILE PHONE IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO REPLY TO TEXT MESSAGES?

Recently, I have sent a couple of text messages to some of my friends asking them about things. I sent one message in particular to about 7 friends, and only one of them replied. Why? The whole idea of having a mobile phone - and letting people know your mobile number - is so that they can contact you.

I know I'm not the best at replying to messages right away - I didn't reply for about 2 days once - but the fact is that I did reply eventually! I apologised for not getting back to the person sooner, and explained why I did not, and everything was fine. I now keep my phone with me nearly all the time, and switch it to Vibrate or Loud or something so I actually know when someone tries to contact me.

OK, so you "haven't got any credit"... Fucking get some then you prat. If you have enough money to get the phone in the first place, you must have enough money to "keep it going". What is the point of having a phone if you can't actually use it?

OK, so you don't particularly want to talk to me or help me out or whatever. Fair enough - but at least TELL ME that you don't want to - that way I know you're not just being rude.

I don't know if these people are poor, ignorant, rude, incapable of using the phone, selfish or what - probably a mixture of them all - but it really infuriates me when you can't get hold of someone.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE CONTACTED, DON'T GIVE PEOPLE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS! IF YOU DECIDE TO GIVE OUT YOUR DETAILS, THEN PREPARE AND EXPECT TO BE CONTACTED!

Ugh... Rant over... For now...

The...Somethings

How many bands/groups are there nowadays that have the name "The...Somethings" ? It's really starting to bug me. Not in a serious *must kill them all* kind of way, but it's just getting a little irritating...

Come on people, let's have something a little more interesting!

Music

Well, as you may or may not know, I have been at home solidly for two weeks now. During this time, I have spent a lot of time at the computer, as you may imagine. Therefore, I have been listening to music nearly all of the time I've been sitting at the thing.

I have quite a few songs, just over 2000 at the last count, and if I'm sitting at the computer, I'll just put Windows Media Player on random play, and it'll choose the songs that I listen to.

There is often a lot of talk about which type of music is best, and I have my own opinions on the subject as most people do (one expressed here!), but I have come up with one thought as a result of my recent continued sitting at the computer. It's a way of seeing for yourself if music is actually any good.

In my own experience, if the track that I'm listening to is any good, I won't take much notice of it. A little bit of foot-tapping may creep in, along with some bad singing and/or humming, but that's about it. However, if the music is crap, then I will instantly skip to the next track. (I have noticed this, primarily, on the odd occasions that the one or two R&B tracks in my collection crop up (I thoroughly dislike R&B!)).

So, next time you're having a debate with someone over which music is good and which is crap, just pop it into your playlist and see if you have to instantly skip the track(s) when they come around. If you do, then it's a bad track...

AS-Level Exams

Ugh... It's that time of the year again... Exams...

My first exam is on Tuesday morning, and I have to admit that I haven't really done any revision for it thus far. I really should. Especially as the second exam on Tuesday is English...

On the other hand, the good thing is that all of my AS-Level exams will be over by Thursday night! Which is good for me, obviously, as it means I've got 2 weeks off after that (woo!). Not so good for some of my friends though, who've got up to about 8 or 9 exams spread over the next three weeks.

Oh well.

There's another of my ramblings to toss onto the pile!

Bon soir for now!

P.S. I'm listening to The Zutons again! Woo!

The Zutons

I bought the new album from The Zutons today, and I have just popped it into my CD player. 'Tired Of Hanging Around' seems to be another excellent lump o'tunes from The Zutons. I'm on track 3 at the moment - "Valerie". very very good so far.

So, my advice is (if you like proper music) go and buy the album...

How's about that? A useful/meaningful post!
I wonder how long it will last!
