The...Somethings

How many bands/groups are there nowadays that have the name "The...Somethings" ? It's really starting to bug me. Not in a serious *must kill them all* kind of way, but it's just getting a little irritating...

Come on people, let's have something a little more interesting!

Music

Well, as you may or may not know, I have been at home solidly for two weeks now. During this time, I have spent a lot of time at the computer, as you may imagine. Therefore, I have been listening to music nearly all of the time I've been sitting at the thing.

I have quite a few songs, just over 2000 at the last count, and if I'm sitting at the computer, I'll just put Windows Media Player on random play, and it'll choose the songs that I listen to.

There is often a lot of talk about which type of music is best, and I have my own opinions on the subject as most people do (one expressed here!), but I have come up with one thought as a result of my recent continued sitting at the computer. It's a way of seeing for yourself if music is actually any good.

In my own experience, if the track that I'm listening to is any good, I won't take much notice of it. A little bit of foot-tapping may creep in, along with some bad singing and/or humming, but that's about it. However, if the music is crap, then I will instantly skip to the next track. (I have noticed this, primarily, on the odd occasions that the one or two R&B tracks in my collection crop up (I thoroughly dislike R&B!)).

So, next time you're having a debate with someone over which music is good and which is crap, just pop it into your playlist and see if you have to instantly skip the track(s) when they come around. If you do, then it's a bad track...
